Hannah jumps to new heights
St John’s Anglican College Year 10 student and high jumper, Hannah Joye, has had a terrific year in 2011, culminating in her being selected in the Athletics Australia under
17 squad which will contest the World Championships this year in Barcelona.
Hannah is coached by Jacqui Zamel, the mother of Commonwealth Games high jump representative Liam Zamel-Paez and has just returned from the nationals where she won a silver medal.
She is a versatile athlete; at last year’s national championships by winning medals in the high jump, long jump and 400m. This year she was selected for the Met West Netball team which contested the Queensland championships
However Hannah is not the only young athlete achieving great things at St John’s. A college record 60 students qualified for the Met West Athletics Championships and 9 St John’s students were subsequently selected for the Queensland championships with multiple medallists including Trae Williams, Terri Ann Caine, Madeline Shears and Hannah Joye.
